The maker
Mona — Macramé artist · Alexandria · in the workshop since 2017
Mona started macramé as a hobby on her Alexandria balcony; today it is a small workshop where she teaches the young women of her neighbourhood. She works only with Egyptian cotton cord, and every knot is tied by hand — no machines.
“A good knot needs patience, not speed.”

Care guide
Egyptian cotton lasts when it’s treated gently.
-
01
Shake it every few weeks
A light shake is enough to lift the dust.
-
02
Hand wash
Cold water and mild soap, no wringing — let it drip and dry laid flat.
-
03
The fringe
If it tangles, comb it through with a wide-toothed comb.
