What came in from the workshops this week — many of them one of a kind.
Fayoum clay and Fustat ceramics, thrown on the wheel and fired in workshop kilns.
Date-palm fronds and Aswan wicker, braided by hand the old way.
Fuwwah kilims and wool rugs, woven on the loom thread by thread.
Wicker lamps, brass lanterns and candles for a warm glow at night.
Damietta wood, cut and finished by hand in carpenters’ workshops.
Hammered brass, mirrors and macramé for walls with a story.
